Berkeley Co. man charged with attempted murdered in club shooting

Based on an investigation by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office on March 01, 2014 at approximately 200AM, the defendant, Freddie A. Amous, did violate section 16-3-29 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, Attempted Murder, in that the defendant did with malice and forethought, commit an assault upon [NAME REDACTED] victim, by shooting him resulting in injury that would normally cause death. The affiant knows this to be true due to the statement of the defendant confessing his actions. This incident did occur at 1331 Unity Road, Holly Hill, in the County of Orangeburg, State of South Carolina.

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C.–Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell has announced the arrest of a 29-year-old Berkeley County man in a Saturday morning shooting.

Ravenell explained,“Officers were called to the Cornfield Club on Unity Road in Holly Hill shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived they observed a 24-year-old Holly Hill man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.”

While investigating the shooting, Ravenell stated that Freddie A. Amous approached officers and identified himself as the shooter.

Amous, who lives in Cross, was arrested, charged with attempted murder, and is currently being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
