$1 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Berkeley Co.

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Someone just got a whole lot richer and may not even know it.

According to representatives with the South Carolina Education Lottery, a Summerville grocery store has sold a Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million for Tuesday night’s drawing.

Publix Super Markets  at 1724 State Rd. in the Cane Bay area of Berkeley County is the lucky lottery destination.

The ticket sold in Summerville matched all five white ball numbers drawn. Had the Megaball number matched, the winner would have won a share of the $160 million jackpot. Lottery officials stated that for an extra $1, the ticket holder could have purchased the Megaplier to see the prize multiplied to $4 million.

22, 39, 56, 67, and 71 Megaball®: 15

If you played, lottery officials are urging everyone to check their tickets. More than 26,000 players in South Carolina hold tickets for prizes from $1 up to $1 million. Of these, more than 8,000 players paid the extra dollar to purchase Megaplier.

When claimed, these players will see their prize winnings multiplied by 4, the Megaplier® number drawn. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. For complete information on claiming prizes, visit sceducationlottery.com.

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 18,492,204 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday night’s drawing is an estimated $180 million.

Proceeds from every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery are returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
