GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—On Saturday November 8th, organizers will hold a spaghetti dinner, a 50/50 raffle and craft sale to raise funds for H.O.P.E Acres Rescue.

Since 2010, H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue has made it its mission to rescue horses near death, neglected and abused.

It is the only organization of its kind in Berkeley County dedicated to saving these precious creatures.

“At H.O.P.E., the horses roam freely. They are safe from harm, they never wonder where their next meal comes from and there is love and attention for these horses to thrive,” Tracey Sawyer, the organization’s founder, has stated.

For the last several years, Sawyer has leased approximately twenty acres of land on Dairy Farm Road for the rescued horses to roam freely.

However, for reasons she can’t discuss, that is all about to change. Sawyer says she has been forced to find a new place for the horses to live or shut the organization down.

She’s been desperately trying to raise funds to keep the organization open.

“If we can garner the monetary support, we’d like to have the opportunity to continue helping Berkeley County,” Sawyer stated recently in an interview.

Sawyer says she hopes to raise enough money to purchase 46 acres of land located on Highway 6 near Kittfield Plantation. To do so, she needs to raise about $100,000.

The public can help her reach her goal by simply purchasing a meal on November 8th (Saturday) at Immaculate Conception Church located at 510 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek.

Meals can be purchased from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for just $6 for adults and $4 for children 10-years-old and under.
