Goose Creek Walmart to host “Winter Blood Drive”

bloodmobileGOOSE CREEK, S.C.–This holiday season, the American Red Cross is asking eligible donors to help hospital patients by giving one last gift – a blood or platelet donation.

Historically, winter is one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough blood and platelet to meet patient needs. Holiday activities make it difficult for many regular donors to make time to donate blood or platelets.

Seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can cause some donors to become temporarily ineligible to donate, and winter weather can lead to canceled blood drives.

On Saturday, Walmart employees located at the Goose Creek location along St. James avenue will do their part to collect as many blood donations as possible with their winter blood drive event.

The blood drive will take place from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. at the bloodmobile located outside of the store.

Those interested can sign up with Jim Morrell in sporting goods by call (843) 553-5421 or by going to www.redcross.org and entering the sponsor code: WalmartGC.

All donors will receive a coupon for a free round of bowling at Royal Lanes in Goose Creek and a ‘thank-you’ gift from Pepsi.
