BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County Interim Sheriff Rick Ollic announced this afternoon a new initiative to put more deputies into the neighborhoods they serve.

“The Cops in Community” program will begin Monday and open satellite sheriff’s offices across the county at no added expense to the taxpayers.

Satellite offices will be located at:

  • The Water and Sewer plant (at the water tower) in Sangaree
  • The Goose Creek Magistrate’s Office on Highway 52
  • The EMS building on Cainhoy Rd. in the Huger community
  • The Pineville Circle Community Center in Pineville

The sheriff’s office is also exploring the possibility of locating one at the Cross Health Center on Highway Six in the Cross community.

“As Acting Sheriff, I now have the ability to enact changes that I believe will better serve the residents of Berkeley County,” said Ollic. “Today’s announcement is just one step in better protecting our residents and improving the relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and the community.”

  1. All I am asking is if my daughter ever ends up back in jail….which I hope not….she has seizures. She was cuffed to a bar with each arm. She had a seizure and no one was there. When she had her seizure she could not go down to the floor as her body crumbled, so she hung there,,,so she seized and ended up with a broke foot and released the next morning with a broken foot, and had to be taken to the er, and no not by BC….this was a few years back but…. She does not know when a seizure is coming on….and you have to tell her she has had one…more than once…so PLEASE train your staff in this. No she didn’t come after Berkeley County…so give her meds and put her on the BOTTOM bunk..and don’t cuff her in a standing position to a stationary bar…Thanks…Her Momma…yea you know me…..So while you are training…train in this also…. It should also be asked when someone is arrested to ask…do you have any medical conditions noted by your doctor. I have moved and the EMS here are not up to par with what they are to do as BC….I am pushing for them to have classes here. MUSC I am sure would give help in this training and info for BC.
