BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A Goose Creek judge has set bond at $25,000 for the driver accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian while crossing the street a week ago on Saint James Avenue.

The pedestrian, identified as 26-year-old Anthony Robert Missouri, was transported to Trident Hospital where he was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes after the collision, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Joshua Brown, 25, of North Charleston was charged with hit-and-run, duties of driver involved in accident with death.

Authorities stated that it was a tip that led to Brown turning himself into the Goose Creek Police Department on Thursday.

Captain John Grainger stated that officers were able to locate Brown after the red Chrysler 300 they believe involved in the crash turned up at a body shop. The car was registered to Avis Rentals in Virginia.

According to an affidavit, Brown was unaware that he hit a person. He reportedly thought he had hit an animal instead.

Investigators stated that they are still working to identify two additional people that were in the vehicle driven by Brown at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Goose Creek Police Department at (843) 863-5200 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111. You can remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.

According to court records, Brown has several charges pending from other cases that occurred this year. In February 2015, he was charged with several counts of financial fraud. In May, he was charged with attempting to distribute, sell or purchase drugs near a school.
