MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–Tuesday’s special election for Moncks Corner town council has ended in an usual way–a tie!
Businessmen Jay Law and Chad Sweatman both received 252 votes.
A little more than 500 of the town’s more than 5,000 registered voters participated in the election.
Voters will now head back to the polls on July 28 for a second runoff.
The field of seven candidates was originally narrowed to Sweatman and Law after a June 30 election.
The position was left vacant when Michael Lockliear was elected mayor in February.
