BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–H.O.P.E Acres has inched closer to becoming a 2015 Giving Back Award recipient.

“I wanted to personally extend our appreciation for your support of H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue as one of 50 of your local Non-Profit’s of The Year during round one of the 2015 Giving Back Awards,” stated Tracey Sawyer, the non-profit’s president.  “We are off to round two, which will narrow the choices down to 25.”

Since 2010, H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue has made it its mission to rescue horses near death, neglected and abused, and it is the only organization of its kind in Berkeley County dedicated to saving these precious creatures.

“We take in horses in all stages. Some of them don’t look like they’re emaciated or underweight, but they may have medical needs that you can’t see,” stated Sawyer. “When we make the commitment to care for these horses, we’re making a lifelong commitment which can be twenty, thirty plus years.”

Voting is still open through July 26th. After the deadline, the top five charities will be in the running for the final selection.

Supporters can vote once a day; however, multiple daily votes will not count.

The 2015 Giving Back Award recipients and their cause(s) will be featured in the November 2015 issue of Charleston magazine and honored at a celebration on Friday, November 20 at Memminger Auditorium in downtown Charleston.
