BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Shortly after 3 a.m. on Rivers Avenue and Morningside Drive in North Charleston, Charleston County deputies say they ran the tag to a Buick Lacrosse and learned the vehicle was stolen out of Berkeley County.

Deputies say they activated their blue lights and sirens in an attempt to get the driver, Andrew Kluczinsky, to pull over.  However, they say the driver refused to stop. A pursuit began, taking deputies on I-26W at speeds well over 100 mph.

During the chase, Charleston County deputies deployed stop sticks, striking the driver’s vehicle and flattening three of the tires. However, he continued to drive.

Kluczinsky eventually turned right onto Jedgburg Road, nearly sideswiping several oncoming vehicles, deputies stated.

During this time, Berkeley County deputies were alerted of the chase and advised to set up stop sticks on Highway 176.

Berkeley County deputies set up the sticks, however, authorities say Kluczinsky missed them.

While on Highway 176, Kluczinsky continued to reach speeds of over 100 mph. At this time, Berkeley County Deputies took over the pursuit

Approximately a mile down the road, deputies say Kluczinsky turned right onto a private dirt road where he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

Kluczinsky was taken into custody. He’s been charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle and DUS 3rd.
