BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.Blackbaud, the leading provider of software and services for the global philanthropic community, is expanding its existing world headquarters operations in Berkeley County. The project is expected to create 300 new jobs over the next five years.

“For nearly thirty years, we’ve called South Carolina home, and we’re proud to deepen our roots in this great state with this generational investment. This community is very important to us, and this project improves our ability to give back in even more meaningful ways, while boosting the local economy,” stated Mike Gianoni, Blackbaud President and CEO.

Founded in 1981, Blackbaud serves the nonprofit, charitable giving, corporate social responsibility and education communities. The company offers a full spectrum of cloud and on-premise solutions, as well as a resource network that empowers and connects organizations of all sizes.

“We’re proud of the competitive environment for business development that Team South Carolina has worked to create in our state, and to see one of our most innovative companies choose to make a significant investment,” stated Governor Nikki Haley. “We couldn’t be more excited to congratulate Blackbaud on the success they’ve found here, and we look forward to watching this fantastic company continue to grow here for many years to come.”

Using Blackbaud technology, these organizations raise, invest, manage and award more than $100 billion each year. With approximately 35,000 customers in 60 countries, Blackbaud operates facilities in the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

In an effort to expand its already robust corporate headquarters in Berkeley County, Blackbaud is moving into a larger estimated 360,000-square-foot facility on Daniel Island. Expected to be completed in phases, phase one of the new facility will be located at the intersection of Fairchild Street and Central Island Street, while phase two will be located at the intersection of River Landing Drive and Fairchild Street.

“Blackbaud has been an incredible corporate citizen in Berkeley County for many years – investing not only in their business here but also in our county’s great people. Berkeley County is extremely grateful for this new investment in the county and the hundreds of jobs it will create,” stated Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler. “Berkeley County will continue to support Blackbaud every way we can to ensure their work for our communities continues to grow and to ensure Blackbaud always knows that Berkeley County is open for business, and Berkeley County means business.”

With construction of phase one anticipated for completion in 2018, Blackbaud is actively recruiting new staff and expects new positions to be added as the project progresses.
