BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Cainhoy Elementary/Middle School will receive $40,000 for the 2016-2017 school year as a result of a $20,000 contribution from Blackbaud and a matching contribution from the Daniel Island Community Fund.
“We are so very grateful for the contribution Blackbaud and the Daniel Island Community Fund has made to our school. The money undoubtedly will provide so many more opportunities for the students at Cainhoy Elementary/Middle. Blackbaud’s and the Daniel Island Community Fund’s contributions signify the community’s commitment to the students in this community,” said Cassandra Jennings, Interim Principal of Cainhoy Elementary/Middle School.
In the past Daniel Island Community Fund has worked with area businesses, like Nucor, to provide resources for Cainhoy Elementary/Middle School students. Vice President, Community Services for the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association, said that the Daniel Island Community Fund approached Blackbaud because it is one of the island’s leading businesses and has a strong philanthropic commitment to education.
“The Daniel Island Community Fund is thrilled that Blackbaud has joined us in supporting the Cainhoy Elementary and Middle School in its quest to increase educational opportunities for its students and faculty. The Daniel Island Community Fund and its partners, Nucor, Blackbaud, and the Daniel Island Rotary Club, are enhancing opportunities for Cainhoy students by funding a variety of programs like Reading Buddies, World Class Scholars, summer enrichment programs, Yorktown and Children’s Museum field trips. We also have made considerable investments in technology initiatives at the school. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Cainhoy Elementary and Middle School’s former principal and look forward to working with their new principal on exciting new programs for the 2016-2017 school year in an effort to better prepare students for success in high school,” said Jane Baker, Vice President, Community Services for the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association.
