MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – According to Berkeley County Spokesperson Michael Mule, Berkeley County Animal Control issued 12 citations to a Moncks Corner woman, Courtney Heatley, after finding the remains of over 30 animals at her residence.
Authorities say they took nine live animals away from her home, which is located on Honey Bee Road, Wednesday night.
Among the remains were those of a pony, deer, goat, dog, rabbit, duck, chicken and squirrel. Berkeley County Animal Control took 2 dogs, 4 kittens, and 3 reptiles to the Doc Williams SPCA.
A hearing will be held with a tentative court date of August 4th.
This is an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, Mule stated.
