Hendrick Automotive Group Charleston/North Charleston and C.T. Lowndes & Company are offering more than $4000 combined prize money to local participating high schools through new Sertoma Football Classic spirit contests and the annual cheerleader football toss.

The two new prize money spirit contests are The Hendrick Social Media Award and the Hendrick Spirit Contest Award. Also, the C.T. Lowndes & Company annual cheerleader football toss allows local students to benefit their own schools and teams, not to mention show off their mean throwing skills.

The Hendrick Social Media contest has spread over all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat allowing students to acquire points for each post showing their school spirit and appreciation to title sponsor Hendrick Automotive Charleston/North Charleston. Points will be tallied at the end of the final event on Friday, August 12 with the highest scoring team receiving $500 prize money for their school.

The Hendrick Spirit Contest kicks off during the first night of match ups on Thursday, August 11 and runs through the end of the event on Friday, August 12. Local judges will be scoring teams on fan support, stand decoration, cheerleading, team camaraderie and more.

Each night of the Sertoma Football Classic there will be a first, second and third place spirit winner with first place taking home $250 for their school, courtesy of Hendrick Automotive Charleston/North Charleston. The overall spirit winner from the Classic will get the esteemed spirit trophy and bragging rights for the 2016-2017 school year.

The C.T. Lowndes Football Toss is a favorite of the Sertoma Football Classic. One cheerleader from each participating squad is chosen to toss a football during half time of each night of the classic. Prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for the longest distance of their toss. C.T. Lowndes and Company is awarding $1000, $350 and $175 respectively, each night, to the winners of the toss for their school.

“Thanks to the generous contributions from Hendrick Automotive Group Charleston/North Charleston and C.T. Lowndes & Company, students can come together, as a community, to give back and to support their own schools. It’s created an amazing new energy for this annual tradition.” says Debbie McKelvey, President of the 46th Annual Hendrick Automotive Group Charleston/North Charleston Sertoma Football Classic.

2015 proceeds from the Classic allowed the Sertoma Club of Charleston to award over $91,000.00 to local charities and high schools that participated in the event. Those charities receiving financial awards have been chosen because they serve children and families throughout the tri-county area. The charities that are supported include Windwood Family Services, Eagle Harbor Boys Ranch, The Ronald McDonald House, Camp Happy Days, The Boys Scouts, The GreenHeart Project and Trinitas.

Tickets for the Sertoma Football Classic, held at Johnson Hagood stadium on Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12, are $12 and can be purchased through local participating high school cheerleader teams, online atwww.charlestonsertoma.com and at the gate the day of the event.
