GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek City Council honored retired councilman John McCants for his service to Goose Creek during the Aug. 9 council meeting at City Hall.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor Michael Heitzler presented a 24-year service pin to McCants.
He has a long history with the city, having moved to the area in Goose Creek.
McCants first started work for the city as a building inspector and moved on to work in community development and grant-writing for Charleston County.
He won a seat on Goose Creek City Council in 1992.
The now former councilman retired earlier this year.
