BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Cyber thieves are using Hurricane Matthew as a way to hack your information.
According to Gov. Nikki Haley, scammers are emailing a subject line that reads, “Outage Information.”

Members opening these fake emails have been compromised, officials have warned.
To protect yourself:
1. DO NOT open an email from someone you don’t know.
2. If you receive one of these emails please report it via social media to Santee Cooper or Berkeley Electric.
