Pinopolis Lock To Go Out Of Service Oct. 24 For 3 Months, But Available Weekends

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper announced Tuesday that the Pinopolis Lock at its Jefferies Hydroelectric Station on Lake Moultrie will be taken out of service for maintenance on Monday, Oct. 24.

However, the 75-foot, single-lift lock will be in service during the three-month repair period on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (Oct. 28, 29 and 30; Nov. 4, 5, and 6; Nov. 11, 12 and 13; Nov. 18, 19 and 20; Nov. 25, 26 and 27; Dec. 2, 3 and 4; Dec. 9, 10 and 11; Dec. 16, 17 and 18; Dec. 23, 24 and 25; Dec. 30, 31 and Jan. 1; Jan. 6, 7 and 8; Jan. 13, 14 and 15).

If maintenance goes as planned, the lock is projected to return to full service on Sunday, Jan. 15.

During the repair period the lock will be operated on the weekends according to its fall and winter schedule: 7 a.m. (or 30 minutes after sunrise, whichever is later) to 5 p.m. (or 30 minutes before sunset, whichever is earlier).

Digital signage at the lock will display its current operating status.
