MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–Santee Cooper is offering a free Solar Energy 101 Workshop to help customers understand the solar energy technologies and rebates available to them. The workshop will be held on Saturday, May 13, from 10:30 a.m. until noon, in the Bill McCall Auditorium at Santee Cooper headquarters (1 Riverwood Dr., Moncks Corner).

The workshop complements Santee Cooper’s Solar Home, Solar Business and Solar Share programs, which offer residential and commercial customers rebates and the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits rooftop and community solar energy systems provide.

Santee Cooper’s outreach coordinator for private rooftop solar programs will guide participants through the current state of the solar industry, how solar energy systems work and are installed, innovations in technology and current financial incentives offered at the federal and state levels. He also will discuss Santee Cooper’s rooftop solar programs, including the application process, rebates, energy credits and residential low-interest loans.

Participants will also receive subscription and rebate information on Solar Share, Santee Cooper’s universal, community solar program. This smart solar approach allows all customers to gain the benefits of solar power even if they rent, live in a condominium without a roof, or don’t have a roof situated for rooftop solar.

Refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited and RSVPs are required. Those interested should RSVP to Nick Safay at (239) 919-6529 or [email protected]. More information on Santee Cooper’s solar programs can be found at www.santeecoopersolar.com.
