BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office,  the woman charged in the armed robbery of a Goose Creek Subway Wednesday attempted to rob a McDonald’s in Ladson the very next day.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 20th, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at the McDonald’s located at 203 College Park Road in Ladson.

Upon investigating the case, it was determined that a white woman wearing a part of a face mask pulled into the drive-through line without placing an order. The driver pulled up to the cashier’s window and pulled out a hunting type knife, approximately 5” long, and demanded money out of the register while brandishing the knife at the cashier. The cashier stepped back and closed the drive through window. Shortly thereafter, the driver drove away slowly in the Chevrolet S-10 extra cab.

After investigating the case, detectives were able to identify the female as Charlene Marie Ceely of Ponderosa Drive in Ladson. Ceely, 33, was determined to be at the Hill Finklea Detention Center already on unrelated but similar charges from the Goose Creek Police Department.

She is currently being held in the Hill Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing. The North Charleston Police Department also has pending charges on Ceely. Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office detectives obtained warrants for Ceely for Attempted Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon during a violent crime.

“Thankfully nobody was injured in this case and we are glad that we were able to solve this case rather quickly. This video is an example of why high-quality video systems are useful to law enforcement when we are conducting investigations,” Sheriff Duane Lewis stated.
