BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County School District is sending out a warning to parents about a potential phone scam.

“It has come to our attention that some of you may have received a call from a blocked phone number asking for a donation to help expand and improve technology for BCSD students,” stated the district on its official Facebook account.

Officials have stated that this is not an authorized BCSD call and did not come from the district or schools. Please do not donate any funds as a result of receiving this call.

“Please do not donate any funds as a result of receiving this call,” BCSD leaders warned.

According to school district officials, BCSD does not solicit funding by phone.

“Also, if you ever receive requests for donations or fundraisers please reach out to the school or the district to confirm that this is an authorized fundraiser. If you ever have a question, do not hesitate to contact us,” posted BCSD officials.
