BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–When it comes to your finances, we all know that your credit score plays a big role.

Your credit score often determines the interest rate you’ll pay for credit cards, car loans, mortgages and whether you’ll get a loan in the first place.

Recently, LendEDU compiled a list of 150 towns and cities with the highest (and the lowest) credit scores in South Carolina.

The town of Okatie in Beaufort County ranked #1 in the state for residents with the highest credit score at 795. The town of St. Stephen came in dead last with an average credit score of 602.

A credit score of 700 or above is generally considered good. A score of 800 or above on the same range is considered to be excellent. Most credit scores fall between 600 and 750.
