BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office are working overtime to determine who killed a man in the Sangaree community early Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place at 603 Beauregard Road near Summerville. Authorities say a man was found shot to death inside a home at that address.

According to Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis, the shooting doesn’t appear to be random.

“Detectives are currently interviewing multiple witnesses and people of interest. We will release more information once we are able to do so – hopefully tomorrow,” stated Lewis.

The incident location has been the scene of at least 15 calls for service in 2017, deputies stated.

If there are any witnesses or if anyone has information that may be helpful in this investigation, the sheriff is asking those individuals to please contact the sheriff’s office at 843-719-4465.

So far, this is the 5th homicide in the unincorporated areas of Berkeley County this calendar year. The other 4 have all been cleared by arrest, deputies added.

The Berkeley County Coroner’ Office is not releasing the victim’s identity at this time.
