David Morbitzer Selected as Hanahan High School Varsity Football Coach

HANAHAN, S.C.–Hanahan High School (HHS) has named David Morbitzer as the new varsity football coach today, February 9. Morbitzer has been on the Hawk staff for the past 10 years, serving most recently as the offensive coordinator.

A graduate of Lexington High School and The Citadel, Morbitzer was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Bulldogs, receiving his degree in social studies education. Morbitzer has been on staff for 10 years and has distinguished himself among the faculty, having twice been nominated for Teacher of the Year honors.

He has served as the offensive line coach and the varsity track and field coach leading the Hawks to two state championships. In 2011 and 2017, Coach Morbitzer was named the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

“We are excited to have a young man of outstanding enthusiasm, energy and character to lead our football program,” said Ric Raycroft, HHS principal. “David has been a big part of the success we have had here over the past 10 years and we are excited about the vision he has for the future of Hawk football.”

David and his wife, Katherine have two sons, Grady (5) and Caleb (2).
