BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—After more than half a century in business, Atkins Boat Landing will be closing its doors for good on August 10, 2014.

Mandy Antley confirmed the news on Monday. She is the granddaughter of Flippo and Inez Atkins who ran the business located at 904 Atkins Land Lane in Moncks Corner.
Their lease to the land is ending, and she says her family will not be renewing it.
“Inez “Granny” Atkins will now embark on her new, very hard-earned and deserved retirement,” Antley stated.
Many people also have homes on the property. Antley says Santee Cooper notified her family last year that the lease was not up for renewal, and that the residents were notified in writing.
“Some chose to move right away, and some are in the process; some homes are not able to be moved,” Antley added.
Antley says the tackle shop’s last open weekend will be the July 4th weekend, and a sale of miscellaneous items is scheduled for July 19, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. inside the tackle shop.
She says she’s not sure of what will become of the property after her family’s lease is up.
