5th Suspect In Deadly Huger Home Invasion Arrested

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has made a 5th arrest related to the Martha Lane home invasion from July 21st in the Huger area of Berkeley County. The crime left one person dead.

As a result of the investigation, detectives stated that they have charged 18-year-old Darius Hamilton of St. Stephen with Armed Robbery x2, Kidnapping x2, Attempted Murder, Murder, Possession of a Weapon in the Commission of a Crime and Burglary 1st Degree.

Sheriff Lewis stated, “We are extremely pleased to have the fifth suspect in custody in this case. The help from the community has been significant and it is greatly appreciated. I am proud of the hard work our detectives have put forward in this case. The assistance from both SLED, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Marshal’s Service has been invaluable.”

According to Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, on July 21st a woman and man returned home to 135 Martha Lane in Huger last Thursday.

When they arrived, five individuals approached them and forced them inside of the residence where an altercation took place, Cochran stated.

At some point, 27-year-old Kadeem Johnson who lived at the residence, was shot and killed.

“Further investigative details and a synopsis of the crime will be provided at a later date,” stated Cochran.
