Hurricane Michael Leads to BCSD Schools & Offices Closing Thursday

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County School District (BCSD) leaders have made the decision to close all schools and offices on Thursday, October 11, 2018, in anticipation of the potential impacts caused by Hurricane Michael.

All after school day care programs and after school activities will also be canceled Thursday, October 11.

All after school activities and sporting events to take place today, Wednesday, October 10, will go forward.

District officials are continuing to work closely with Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness Center to monitor the hurricane and potential impact on the county. Officials are also receiving regular updates from the National Weather Service.

Officials will continue to closely monitor this weather event and will communicate with parents, staff, and the community as frequently as possible about any changes or additional closures.

At this time, school officials plan to resume operations Friday, October 12, pending the availability of power and the outcome of damage assessments to our schools and facilities.
