BCSO Chief Deputy Mike Cochran Hired As Hanahan’s New City Administrator

HANAHAN, S.C.–Mayor Minnie Newman and City Council announced on Thursday the hiring of Michael “Mike” Cochran as Administrator for the City of Hanahan.

He currently serves as Chief Deputy for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s office and also served as the Hanahan Police Chief from 2011 – 2015.

Cochran has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration from Western Carolina University and a Master’s of Public Administration and a Doctorate of Education.

He lives in the City of Hanahan with his wife Karen and daughters Kelly and Kate.

His first day will be November 13th where he will work alongside outgoing administrator and Berkeley County Supervisor Elect Johnny Cribb through December 31st.

Cochran was one of three candidates for the job. Berkeley County Councilman (District 1) Kevin Cox and Town of Moncks Corner Community Development Director Douglas R. Polen also applied for the position.

The City of Hanahan City Council held a special meeting on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. to conduct in-person interviews before announcing their official decision the following day.
