Whitesville Fire Dept. Announces Cane Bay Station Groundbreaking Date

MONCKS CORNER, SC – Officials with the Whitesville Rural Fire Department have formally announced the date of the groundbreaking ceremony for their new headquarters station located inside the Cane Bay subdivision.

The public is cordially invited to attend this event which will take place on May 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the site of the department’s future station located at 1903 Cane Bay Blvd in Summerville.

“This groundbreaking ceremony represents years of hard work by our department and board of directors,” said Fire Chief Tim Stephenson “We have overcome many hurdles to get here from funding to administrative red tape but our resolve to provide the best quality protection to our residents prevailed.”

The Whitesville Fire Department was formed in 1967 and has protected the Whitesville Fire District for 50-years without interruption in service. It became a 501(c)(3) incorporation in 1985. It currently staffs two fire stations with 52 volunteers and 3 Engines, a 105-foot Aerial Device (ladder truck), a 100 foot tower truck, an Advanced Life Support Quick Response Vehicle, three Chief Officer Vehicles, a Brush Truck, two service trucks, one Heavy Rescue Truck, and one apparatus maintenance vehicle.

The district is just under 50 square miles and includes portions of the Town of Moncks Corner. The department also contracts with the Town of Moncks Corner to protect portions of Highway 52 and the associated subdivisions along this highway.
