Berkeley County Delinquent Tax Sale to Take Place October 21, 2019

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — Berkeley County’s Delinquent Tax Division will hold its annual Delinquent Tax Sale on Monday, October 21, 2019.

The deadline to pay all 2018 taxes, to avoid sale of property, is 5 p.m. on October 18, 2019. The Tax Sale will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the Berkeley County Administration Building, located at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

If additional days are necessary to complete the auction, an announcement will be made to that effect before the close of business on October 21, 2019. The sale on subsequent days, if necessary, will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m., or earlier.

The Mobile Home sale will start approximately 30-45 minutes after the Land Sale ends. All real property and mobile homes with delinquent taxes are subject to sale.

To avoid sale, all delinquent taxes, assessments, penalties and costs must be received and processed by the County by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Only cash, money order, cashier’s check, attorney’s trust/escrow account checks or credit/debit cards (with a 30 cents & 2.50% transaction fee) will be accepted for payment of taxes. Real and personal property must be advertised prior to the tax sale.

The listing was first advertised in the Charleston Post and Courier and made available on the County website (www.berkeleycountysc.gov) on October 3, 2019. The listing will again be advertised in print media and online on October 10, 2019 and October 17, 2019.

The listing will be in the name of the current owner and the defaulting taxpayer, defined by the South Carolina statutes as the owner of record on December 31 of the year preceding the taxable year.

The Mobile Homes listing will be advertised and available online for two consecutive weeks, starting October 10, 2019 and again October 17, 2019.
