HANAHAN, S.C. – Special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested a Hanahan couple in connection with the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

John Hubert Getsinger Jr., 52, and Stacie Ann Hargis-Getsinger, 43, were taken into Tuesday on several charges, including entering a restricted building without lawful authority to do so as well as disrupting the orderly conduct of government business.

According to a criminal complaint, four people contacted the FBI’s tip line separately to report that the couple had traveled from Hanahan to participate in the protest and subsequent riot at the U.S. Capitol building in
Washington, D.C.

Authorities said that one of the tipsters, an anonymous caller, told the FBI that a video exists of the Getsingers entering the Capitol building saying, “This is War! We’re storming the Capitol!”

Federal authorities said another tipster submitted screenshots showing the Getsingers and others coordinating rides to Washington, D.C. on a public Facebook group called, “Berkeley County Growth & Development.”

A family member also notified federal authorities of the couple’s alleged involvement in the Capitol riot.

A Facebook live video also captured John and Stacie Getsinger at the door of the Capitol building. Surveillance video also showed the couple inside the Rotunda, according to the criminal complaint.

John Getsinger’s cellphone pinged him in the vicinity of the U.S. Capitol building around the time of the riot, court documents show.

Following the charges, the couple was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center. They have since been released. The case remains under investigation.
