2 ID’d in Moncks Corner Murder-Suicide, Authorities Say

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people found dead in a suspected murder-suicide last month in Moncks Corner.

Darlisha T. McIlwain, 43, and Johnnie B. Elmore Sr., 55, were both found fatally shot on Cicadas Song Drive around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, according to the coroner’s office. Both victims were residents of Moncks Corner.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Cicadas Song Drive just after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, after a family member called 911. When deputies arrived, they found McIlwain and Elmore deceased from gunshot wounds.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, preliminary findings indicate the incident was domestic-related. Investigators are treating the case as a possible murder-suicide.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office continue investigating.
