Man Accused Of Watching Child Shower Booked Into Berkeley County Jail

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A man on parole for a prior child molestation conviction is back behind bars after Summerville police say he was caught watching a child shower through a bathroom window.

The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, in the Weatherstone neighborhood. According to the Summerville Police Department, a concerned resident reported seeing a suspicious male standing in the backyard of a home, allegedly peering into a bathroom where a child was showering.

Responding officers quickly located Charles Dykes, 52, who multiple witnesses identified as the suspect. Dykes, a registered offender currently on parole and GPS monitoring via an ankle bracelet, was taken into custody without incident.

The South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services (PPP) has joined the investigation, which remains ongoing. Police say additional charges may be filed following further review.

Dykes is currently being held at the Berkeley County Detention Center in Moncks Corner and has been formally charged with voyeurism.
