BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County School District (BCSD) is bringing back its summer feeding program starting Monday, June 2, ensuring children across the district have access to nutritious meals while school is out.
Running through Thursday, July 24, the program will offer free hot breakfast and lunch to all children and teens at designated sites. Meals will be served Monday through Thursday, with breakfast from 7:30–8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
All meals must be eaten on-site in accordance with USDA regulations. (The exceptions include leftover fresh fruit or a bag of chips.)
The initiative is part of the federally funded Seamless Summer Option (SSO), which extends the National School Lunch Program during summer break in low-income areas.
The district reminds families that all sites will be closed on Thursday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. Site availability is also subject to change.

Community organizations like churches and nonprofits may apply to distribute meals from open sites. The application is available on the Child Nutrition Website, where families can also find summer breakfast and lunch menus.
