69-Year-Old Man Found Dead in Goose Creek House Fire

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead inside a burning home early Tuesday morning on Kathryn Drive.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 12:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a residential fire. Firefighters discovered the body of 69-year-old Danial John Skinner inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple fire departments, including Goose Creek Rural, Caromi, Pineridge, Hanahan, Joint Base, and C&B, worked to contain the blaze. Berkeley County EMS also responded.

The cause of the fire—and Skinner’s death—remains under investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause and manner of death, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office is working alongside the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and the State Fire Marshal to uncover what led to the fire.

Authorities have not yet released further details as the investigation continues.
