GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The City of Goose Creek officially opened its doors to a new cultural hotspot this week—and it’s already turning heads. The Creek Collective, located at 222 St. James Avenue, was unveiled Wednesday, May 28, bringing a splash of color and creativity to the Lowcountry.
Once a wedding chapel that closed in 2021 shortly after the owner died, the building has been transformed into a venue for the arts while still preserving its original charm.
According to city officials, the square footage of the building is 1,259 plus an 800-square-foot patio. Mayor Greg Habib previously stated that the new building is 140 square feet larger than the previous chapel that once stood on the property.
“The total cost of the Creek Collective [art center] was $973,000. That was paid primarily with hospitality tax money, and some existing art funds that the city had on hand were also used,” added Frank Johnson, the city’s spokesperson.

The new facility is now a place where the community can connect through rotating art exhibits, book signings, art classes, and events that celebrate all things creative. Local artists will also have the chance to showcase and sell their work through the gallery’s regularly updated displays.

The Creek Collective isn’t just for browsing, it’s also available for private rentals, including weddings and special events.
For those wanting to stop by, public hours are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no admission fee.
