MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A man is behind bars after deputies say he filmed himself on Facebook while leading them on a 100-mph chase through Berkeley County.

Sheriff Duane Lewis said Monday that Rashawn Quamaine Scott, 35, of Raymond Street in Andrews, was arrested Friday after deputies forced his car to a stop using spike strips.

The pursuit began on August 8 when a deputy and his K9 partner spotted Scott tailgating another driver and swerving on Cooper Store Road in Moncks Corner. When the deputy attempted to pull him over, Scott initially slowed before hitting the gas. He tore through Black Tom Road and South Live Oak Drive, topping 100 miles per hour, investigators said.

Deputies deployed stop sticks to disable the vehicle, bringing the chase to an end. Scott was detained without further incident.

Inside the car, deputies reported finding about 56.5 grams of marijuana.

Scott faces multiple charges including failure to stop for blue lights (second offense), driving under suspension (third or subsequent offense), habitual traffic offender, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
