MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Muskets will fire, cannons will boom, and 18th-century life will take center stage when Revolutionary Berkeley Day returns to Old Santee Canal Park on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, offering visitors a hands-on look at the Lowcountry’s role in America’s fight for independence.
The family-friendly event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic park, located at 900 Stony Landing Road, and is designed to immerse guests in the sights, sounds and stories of the Revolutionary era. The program is sponsored in part by the Berkeley 250 Francis Marion Commission and the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission, known as SC250, as communities across the state prepare to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.
“This family-friendly event has something for all ages to experience and learn from,” said Chelsy Clark Proper, director of the Berkeley County Museum. “We’re celebrating America’s 250th birthday in style.”

A centerpiece of the day is guided access to Fort Fair Lawn, one of only two remaining Revolutionary-era British forts in South Carolina. Visitors will also encounter historical interpreters portraying figures and trades from the 1700s, with live musket and cannon demonstrations illustrating how warfare was conducted during the period.

The schedule includes live performances, such as presentations centered on Eliza Lucas Pinckney and the indigo trade that helped shape the Lowcountry’s colonial economy. Lectures will explore key local figures, including a talk on the life and legacy of General William Moultrie, a Revolutionary War hero with deep ties to the region.

Beyond formal demonstrations, the event emphasizes interactive learning. Families can take part in colonial games, listen to period storytelling, and even try their hand at 18th-century cricket, one of the era’s most popular sports. Vendors, historical organizations and food trucks will be on site throughout the day.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and students with a valid ID, and free for children ages 6 and under. Organizers note that park passes will not be valid for this special event and pets are not permitted.
