The city has not yet announced the reason for her resignation.
Roscoe stepped into her role as Goose Creek’s police chief on Jan. 21, 2019. She replaced Chief Harvey Becker, who had led the police department since 1989.

Her hiring didnโt come without some controversy. Documents showed that Georgiaโs Peace Officers Standards and Training Council recommended the revocation of Major LJ Roscoeโs certification in 2016. The recommendation was the result of the death of a jail recruit during a training exercise. DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann, however, defended Roscoeโs hiring in Goose Creek in a statement to Live 5 News.
Less than a month ago, Roscoe along with Goose Creek Mayor Greg Habib announced a defamation lawsuit against Jessica Crimi as well as James Bessenger of The Carolina Courier for falsehoods relating to โcrimes, misconduct and personal immorality.โ
A search for Roscoeโs replacement is expected to begin soon. In the meantime, Goose Creek Police Captain Tom Hill will serve as interim chief, taking over day-to-day leadership of the department while the city works to identify a permanent successor.
