BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Dan Moon with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have arrested one person and recovered what is estimated to be approximately $200,000.00 in reported stolen

vehicles, motorcycles, trailers and numerous other items after uncovering, what is commonly referred to as, a “Chop Shop” operation in the St. Stephen area of Berkeley County.
Berkeley County detectives received information that four stolen motorcycles were at a St. Stephen address. After corroborating the information, a search warrant was obtained for the property at 4422 N. Highway 52.
An NCIC check revealed the motorcycles had been reported stolen, along with a pickup truck and an enclosed trailer, from a motel parking lot in Orangeburg County. The approximate value of the motorcycles alone is $70,000.00.
Detectives arrested and charged the owner of the residence, Harrison William Lucas, 46, with operating a “chop Shop.” Several items on the motorcycles had been removed or modified. Deputies also found parts to the stolen enclosed trailer along with a truck that had been taken earlier from Orangeburg County.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the scope of this “Chop Shop” operation.
