BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–American Red Cross disaster-trained volunteers are assisting four adults and one child following a single family home fire on Russellville Road.
The home was destroyed by the blaze, toย which the Bonneau Fire Department respondedย earlier today.
The Red Cross is meeting the immediate needs of the familyย by providing temporary housing, financial assistance for food and clothes, and comfort kits, as well as referrals to partner agencies to assist with long-term recovery.
In South Carolina, the American Red Cross, on average, responds to a disaster every four hours.ย Because of volunteers and financial assistance from the community, the Red Cross was able to help more than 7,100 individualsย affected by disasters, the majority of those being home fires, in S.C. last year.ย ย ย
