Free Safe Food Handling Class Offered to Community Volunteers

food BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Clemson Extension Service is piloting a new program called Food Safety for Gatherings.  This activity based curriculum is designed to assist groups who prepare food for their communities.  Churches, civic clubs, fund raising groups, and others will benefit from this information.

Participants will learn skills necessary to keep food safe during all stages of food handling from shopping/transporting safely to and reheating / serving. The information and activities learned can be used to train persons within participating groups.

The training will be held on April 15 at the Berkeley County Administration Building located at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. The training will take place from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

There is no cost to participate in this pilot training. The training is open to 30 persons. Registration is required.  Register by calling Gayle Williford at (843) 563-5773 or send an e-mail message to [email protected].  Please include name, phone number, and organization/group name.
