Groundbreaking for New $19 Million, Charleston Trade Center Building Set for Tuesday, April 19, 2016

CTC RenderingSUMMERVILLE, S.C. โ€“ Charlotte-based developer The Keith Corporation and Chicago-based investor Singerman Real Estate announced that the official groundbreaking for a new $19 million shell building at the $175 million Charleston Trade Center is set for Tuesday, April 18, 2016.

โ€œWe are delighted to be working with Berkeley County, the State of South Carolina and the South Carolina Ports Authority to recruit jobs and investment to this region,โ€ said Alan Lewis, Industrial Development Partner of The Keith Corporation. โ€œWith the new Sheep Island Interchange under construction and the imminent completion of the Panama Canal expansion project, we feel the timing for the development ofย Charleston Trade Center is excellent.โ€

The 307,000 square foot shell building at the Charleston Trade Center in Summerville will offer a graded pad to allow expansion to nearly 923,000 square feet, cross-dock design, ESFR fire protection, 36โ€™ minimum clear height, and 50โ€™ x 54โ€™ bay spacing with two 60โ€™ deep speed bays along the dock walls.

โ€œThe investment of the Keith Corporation and Singerman Real Estate is further proof that Berkeley County is open for business and Berkeley County means business,โ€ said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler. โ€œThe County looks forward to Tuesdayโ€™s ground breaking and welcomingย the new additional investment and jobs it will bring in the very near future.โ€

The shell building is expected to be completed by December 31, 2016.
