Coroner ID’s SCDOT Worker Who Died After Falling on Ice, Snow

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the SCDOT worker who died after slipping on the ice during last week’s snowy weather.

The employee’s name is Clyde McCants, 65, of Bonneau.

On Friday, January 5 at 8 a.m. is when McCants slipped and fell on the ice and snow, stated Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The accident happened in the DOT parking area while he was at work.

Salisbury stated that he was transported to a local hospital where he died on Tuesday.

An investigation conducted by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office found the death was accidental and he died from head trauma.
