2 Injured In Summerville Shooting: BCSO

According to the Berkeley County School District, administrators and the school resource officer at Sangaree Middle School received information Wednesday that a student had a gun on campus.

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday evening, leaving two people injured.

According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting happened on Gippy Drive in Summerville.

“The call came in at 5:20 p.m.,” Cpl. Carli Drayton said. “There were two juveniles injured in the shooting.”

Drayton said a caller gave dispatch a description of the vehicle involved, and while deputies were responding to the shooting, they saw the suspectโ€™s vehicle on Myers Road.

Deputies said they attempted to stop the vehicle and then were involved in a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended in North Charlestonโ€™s jurisdiction in the area of James Bell Drive and Rivers Avenue. Deputies have a man in custody.ย 

The juveniles were transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.ย
