BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley Senior Center staff celebrated recent upgrades with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning. The event took place at 103 Thurgood Road in Goose Creek. Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb and several other county officials attended the event.

This project was funded by Berkeley Countyโ€™s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program ($131,834.76) and Berkeley Countyโ€™s Accommodations Fee Discretionary Funding Program ($17,615.12).

Renovations included interior painting and upgrades to the facilityโ€™s flooring, kitchen, restrooms, lobby, and exterior emergency area.

Thursday’s ribbon-cutting was the fourth event of its kind this month for Berkeley County, as its CDBG projects continue to wrap up with success and excitement, county officials said.

Is your organization and/or nonprofit interested in seeking CDBG funding (in Program Year 2024) for a community initiative? The county is hosting an informational CDBG Community Fair on Dec. 14. Learn more at this link.
