BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Home Telecom has renewed its Diamond-level Partnership with the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) for the third consecutive year, contributing $200,000 to SCRAโ€™s Industry Partnership Fund (IPF). SCRA contributes to the IPF to support companies and researchers in advancing impactful technologies in South Carolina.

โ€œHome Telecom understands the challenges companies face when developing technology aimed at solving industrial, commercial and lifestyle problems that will improve the human experience,โ€ said William S. Helmly, president and CEO of Home Telecom. โ€œIt can take time and resources for these companies to harness and implement that technology effectively.โ€

SCRA works with technology companies across the state to fuel South Carolinaโ€™s innovation economy. By accelerating growth in many areas of influence from academics to research, entrepreneurship, and industry, SCRA is providing an opportunity for the โ€œnext big thingโ€ to take root in South Carolina.

โ€œWe are privileged to facilitate the next big things in innovation,โ€ said SCRA President and CEO Bob Quinn. โ€œTo continue helping these innovators create high-paying jobs and provide advancements that benefit society as a while, we need support from partners like Home Telecom.

โ€œWe are incredibly grateful that Home Telecom continues to support our mission and the stateโ€™s innovation economy overall.โ€

In contributing to SCRAโ€™s mission, Home Telecom is advancing an all-hands-on-deck approach that inspires and proliferates community and statewide partnerships and alliances to expand innovation even further.

Home Telecom has always held the belief that while as a company they can contribute significantly to the overall innovation economy, they cannot do it alone. It requires collaboration.

According to SCRAโ€™s Fiscal Year Impact Metrics Report for 2023, SCRAโ€™s economic impact on the innovation economy was $1.19 billion, up 3.3% from 2022.

SCRA and its affiliate SC Launch, Inc. awarded $4.8 million in grants and investment in 2023. Their startups have received $2.66 billion in follow-on investment capital since SC Launchโ€™s inception in 2006.

That is the kind of innovation that makes a difference for business, academia, communities, and the technology industry as a whole.
