Woman Busted for Forged Eviction Order in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A Charleston County woman is facing criminal charges after forging court documents to kick a tenant out of their apartment, state law enforcement officials said.

Virginia Skye Coaxum, 29, was charged with forgery under $10,000 on Friday, April 18, following a months-long probe by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). The investigation kicked off after a suspicious eviction last December in Berkeley County.

According to arrest warrants, Coaxum admitted to playing a role in falsifying a Writ of Ejectment — a legal document used to evict tenants — during a recorded interview with a SLED agent on Feb. 4.

The phony document was used to carry out an eviction on Dec. 11, 2024, at Marrington Village Apartments, located at 5000 Harbour Lake Drive in Goose Creek, officials said.

After the eviction was carried out, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office discovered the writ was not legitimate and quickly flagged SLED to dig deeper.

Coaxum was booked into the Berkeley County Detention Center following her arrest. Her case will be prosecuted by the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

No further details were immediately released.
