GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Goose Creek Police Department has announced that it will conduct safety checkpoints on Friday, May 16, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the following locations:

  • Westview Blvd at Crowfield Boat Storage
  • Henry Brown Jr. Blvd at Mevers School of Excellence
  • Old State Road at Marion Avenue
  • Howe Hall Road at Howe Hall AIMS

The goal is to promote road safety by ensuring compliance with traffic laws. At these checkpoints, officers may stop vehicles to check for valid driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, and signs of impairment.

In South Carolina, law enforcement agencies are permitted to conduct safety checkpoints under specific legal guidelines. The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of such checkpoints, provided they meet certain criteria. These include supervisory approval, neutral criteria for stopping vehicles, and advance public notice.
