No Charges Filed In Deadly Hanahan Teen Shooting

According to Hanahan police, the teen was fatally shot in self-defense during an armed robbery.

HANAHAN, S.C. – No charges will be filed against the person who shot and killed a Hanahan teenager on Monday, May 12. Berkeley County Coroner identified the deceased as Treโ€™sean White, 18, of Wadmalaw Island.

The shooting occurred in the area of 7409 Bowen Corner Avenue. After arriving at the location shortly after 9 p.m., Hanahan police said they located White’s body.

According to police, after consulting with the Ninth Circuit Solicitorโ€™s Office, the evidence shows that White was shot in self-defense while he and Deonte Calden Trevon Lancit, 18, of Charleston, were conducting an armed robbery of the victim.

The investigation led to the arrest of Lancit, who was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Lancit currently remains behind bars at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner.
