BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Two men in Hanahan are behind bars following a recent drug investigation in Berkeley County that led to the discovery of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and an illegal firearm, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Agents with the county’s Narcotics Task Force arrested 29-year-old Josue Armenta Zavala and 22-year-old Ever Godinez Nolasco on May 21 during a surveillance operation in the Hanahan area.
Authorities say the two were spotted outside smoking marijuana when agents approached them. Armenta Zavala allegedly tried to toss a bag later confirmed to contain approximately 28 grams of cocaine.

A search warrant was then executed at an apartment on Miami Street. Inside, agents seized an additional 33 grams of cocaine, 9 grams of methamphetamine divided into 18 small baggies, 26 grams of marijuana, and a 9mm firearm with its serial number removed. Also found were hundreds of plastic baggies commonly associated with drug distribution.
Armenta Zavala faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine trafficking, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Godinez Nolasco was charged with providing false information to police.

Both men were booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, where they await bond hearings. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a detainer on Armenta Zavala after authorities confirmed he had been previously deported in 2018.
The Berkeley County Narcotics Task Force includes officers from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Goose Creek Police Department, Hanahan Police Department, and Moncks Corner Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
