
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County residents can expect a busy week on local roads as construction crews launch several resurfacing and stormwater improvement projects beginning Monday, June 2.
Daytime Road Paving in Council Districts 3, 4, and 5
From Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6, daily paving will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following roads:
- District 3: Retriever Lane
- District 4: Moses Extension
- District 5: Lexington Place, Manchester Court, Harrow Place, Kersey Terrace, Marleybone Court, Deben Court, Kendall Court, Shelton Drive, Greenland Drive, and Springhall Drive

This work is part of the 2024 Berkeley County One Cent Sales Tax Resurfacing Project and the 2024 American Rescue Plan Act Local Roads Resurfacing Project.
Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic and maintain access during construction, but lane closures are expected. Drivers are asked to follow posted signs and message boards and refrain from parking on the streets in affected areas.
Overnight Lane Closures on US 176 and US 17A
In a separate project, crews will be performing overnight storm drainage work on US 176 (St. James Ave.) and US 17A beginning Monday, June 2. All work will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and includes the following impacts:
- Monday, June 2: Westbound lanes of US 176 will close; one lane shifted to the median.
- Tuesday, June 3: Eastbound lanes of US 176 will close; one lane shifted to the median.
- Wednesday, June 4: Left turn lane closed on northbound US 17A.
- Thursday, June 5: Northbound US 17A reduced to one lane with traffic shifted.
This work is part of Phase 1 of the US 176 Widening Project, aimed at improving stormwater drainage and traffic flow in the area.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution, plan alternate routes when possible, and obey all posted construction signage. All scheduled work is weather permitting.
